ORIGIN/HABITAT: Mexico, most of Central America, and northern South
America. Plants grow on trees, rocks, and the surface of the ground. They
are found in open or dense humid forests, coffee plantations, pastures,
and patches of cloudforest. Although usually found at 4900-7550 ft.
(1500-2300 m), collections have been reported from as low as 3950 ft.
(1200 m) and as high as 10,850 ft. (3300 m).
