Flask Information
Availability: We have sold all of the flasks for this item.
You should: Consider getting individual plants or compots instead of a flask.
You can place a "Notify Flask Recipients" Request, and either we or a flask recipient may contact you when plants are available.

You may also place a "Notify Retries" Request, and if an identical pollination (the same parents) is done again, we'll let you know.

You may reserve a flask, but it's very unlikely you'll get one ...this could only happen if we found a flask that we didn't know we had.
Yield Estimate: 240 plants (based on flask surveys done 12/03/2002 )
Yield estimates are only approximate, but may appear to be fairly exact numbers because they are a combination of large rough estimates in remaining mother flasks and more accurate small estimates in reflasks.
Plantlet Sizes: From many flasks 20 - 60 mm plants (based on flask surveys done 01/02/2004 )
From one most recently surveyed flask 20 - 60 mm (01/02/2004)

The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and northern South America. Plants are found on the Caribbean side of the Central American Isthmus, growing in trees in low gallery forest. They have been reported from as high as 4900 ft. (1500 m), but the descriptions of the plants from higher elevations seem to be for Hexisea imbricata. In Colombia, Hexisea bidentata reportedly grows in warm to temperate climates, but Hexisea imbricata is found only in temperate climates. Many sources also include Mexico and Guatemala as habitat, but we did not find specific habitat information for collections in either country. Wiard (1987) reported "H. imbricata is the sole member of the genus native to Mexico."
