The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Nicaragua, Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Brazil. In Nicaragua, plants have been found at several locations near Managua and in the provinces of Rivas and Boaco in lowland forest from near sea level to 2300 ft. (700 m). Plants in Panama are found only in the western part of the isthmus in the provinces of Veraguas, Chiriquí, and Bocas del Toro where they grow in the lowlands at 350-1000 ft. (100-300 m). In Venezuela, plants have been found in the northwestern state of Zulia at about 500 ft. (150 m). In Brazil, plants are reported only from hot, humid lowlands in the state of Amazonas.
