The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Panama, Ecuador, and Colombia. In Panama, plants called
Cryptophoranthus lepidotus L.O. Williams were found near Coclé along the
trail to Las Minas in the hills north of El Valle de Antón at 3300 ft.
(1000 m). In Ecuador, this orchid is found on the eastern slopes of the
Andes in the provinces of Morona-Santiago, Napo, Pichincha, and
Zamora-Chinchipe at 3300-5750 ft. (1000-1750 m) and in the Western-Andes
near Cuenca in the ChacaYaca forests at 1000-2350 ft. (300-600 m). The
habitat elevation in Colombia is 3300-5900 ft. (1000-1800 m), but no
additional information was reported.
