The following information is based on the name of the plant provided by the donor, and assumes that the name is correct. If the plant has been misidentified, then the following information may not be correct.

ORIGIN/HABITAT: Southwest Mexico and Guatemala. In Mexico, plants are
found mostly at 2300-4900 ft. (700-1500 m) growing in mosses on trees in
humid oak forests and on open stands of trees along small canyon streams.
Although they usually grow on slopes facing the Pacific from the state of
Nayarit southward to Guatemala, plants have also been reported in the
state of Veracruz on the southeast coast. While found over a relatively
large area, these plants are seldom found in large numbers and are listed
as uncommon in the habitat.
