ORIGIN/HABITAT: Colombia and Ecuador. Plants have been found in northern
Ecuador where they grow as epiphytes in cloudforests mostly at 5900-8200
ft. (1800-2500 m). Collections have been made in Carchi Province between
Tulcan and Maldonado at 7050-8550 ft. (2150-2600 m), in Imbabura Province
at several locations near Apuela at 7550-9850 ft. (2300-3000 m), in Napo
Province near Papallacta at 9200 ft. (2800 m), and in Pichincha Province
at numerous locations at 3950-9200 ft. (1200-2800) but mostly above 6550
ft. (2000 m). Although reported to occur in Colombia, specific details of
the habitat in that region have not been reported.
