Donor's culture notes: Temperature range I (60-83°F). This is a large-growing terrestrial orchid that enjoys intermediate conditions but will tolerate a very wide range of temperatures. The soil must be amended to be free flowing. While Phaius enjoys a good deal of moisture during growth it doesn't like bog conditions. Sitting in a saucer of water is fine. The size of this species can be restrained by growing in a smaller pot (6 inch standard size) and dividing regularly. Or it can fill a 5-10 gal tub if desired with 6-7 foot spikes and 3 foot foliage in late winter to early spring.
Unique ID: MC5362
(this will not change even if any part of the name should change)
