Phragmipedium wallisii comes from Ecuador. It is a large plant with fans growing to 20 inches tall. The slippers on this plant are a creamy pink, with green petals. The outer petals on this variety have grown to 24 inches, and are a brown-red in color. The inflorescence produces 3-5 flowers. My plants bloom every couple of years. While not the most colorful slipper orchid, definitely one of the most impressive in form. |
Donor's culture notes: |
Temperature range I (60-83°F). Relatively easy to grow. They like intermediate to warm conditions with high humidity, bright light, and a well-drained water-retentive growing medium. I grow them sitting in saucers of water, and water again after the saucer is empty. |
